About

CAL Student Council

The College of Arts and Letters Student Council (CALSC) is the premier student body of the College of Arts and Letters (CAL). It has the primary objective of promoting the best interests of all CAL students by means of student representation in matters involving student life and associations, advancement and management of student organizations and activities, and fortification of enhanced society conditions.

The CALSC, as personified by the students from each department of CAL, weekly holds a General Assembly (GA) to discuss policies and negotiate resolutions. GA upshots and other crucial information are relayed to the students through mass declarations, educational discussions (ED), room announcements/room-to-room (RTR), CAL tambayan visitations/org-to-org (OTO), and all leaders’ conference (ALC), which is done every second and fourth Thursday of the month.

The representatives of CALSC are offered the opportunities to improve their leadership skills and to become critically thinking elements of the community. They get involved even with the subjects beyond the four corners of the room. They are trained to be politically and socially conversant and to be seekers for truth and justice.

Serving the students and the Filipino people, in general, CALSC continues its legacy of carrying out worthy projects to further develop the skills of the students, to unify the different student organizations, and to educate the Iskolars ng Bayan, not just about the issues concerning CAL or UP, but also about topics affecting the whole country, and even the whole world.
